This refined English gem eschews scatological humour for the understated wit and ruthless morbidity of the great Ealing comedies. 'Keeping Mum' is one comedy you'll definitely want to keep in mind for many a rainy day.

This quaint British comedy is very much in the Ealing mode with the added ingredients of salaciousness and salty language. It also boasts a cast that generally live up to their reputations. All well and good but there's just one problem: it's not that funny. True, it has its laugh out loud moments, though the slow pace and dated double entendres usually induce little more than a smile.

As much as this film was unsophisticated in a way, I should have disliked it more. However, I have thought of it since I have seen it. It was incredibly funny. The actors were great and pulled it off. It felt like a mini-Four Weddings and a Funeral reunion.
