To Renfeild I say: PICK A LANE! Are you trying to be comedy? Horror? Action? Gory? NO! All of the above and while the film is certainly entertaining (especially Nicolas Cage killing it as Dracula - even if he needed more) it's also just all over the damn place. I'm glad I watched it but I have a feeling it would have been better if not for mixing in so many genres at once.

Nicolas Cage is the best part as Dracula. He deserves more screen-time but he milks every minute he's on-camera. Nicholas Hoult is not bad in the lead even if he's given a lot of cringe-worthy dialogue. Unfortunately, Awkwafina is miscast and looks awkward being in this. The movie is gory as hell and racks up a pretty impressive body count. But is pretty uneven as to whether it's a pitch-black comedy or trying to be a straightforward horror movie.

On one end of "Renfield," you have a great Dracula spoof. But there's a second, less interesting movie stuck onto it; a hyper-violent but pretty dull action-comedy that distracts from the superior comedy, and limits Cage's amount of available screen time in the process.

Renfield feels like a movie that would have come out in the early 2010s. I cannot explain it. It’s just a feeling, I guess. Anyway, I enjoyed this one. With it being a vampire movie, I knew it would be bloody, but I didn’t expect it to be so freaking gory lol. I wish they didn’t include the crime family in the story, which isn't needed.
