Alana Haim and Cooper Hoffman seem like perfect fits for their roles - this world - but Bradley Cooper truly takes the cake in an unhinged cameo that is hilarious and kind of scary. While I felt the story was all over the place at times, it captured the period and has a kick-ass soundtrack. A worthy coming-of-age story.

Look, it's a good movie overall, but man, the moment when Bradley Cooper showed it was chaotic and wonderful. He shows up with intensity, threatens to kill some teenagers, and leaves only to appear out of nowhere in the dark streets of California to hop a ride with the same teens he threatens to kill, only to threaten another teenager for gas, he then proceeds to destroy public property for no reason while mumbling under his breath and finally concluding his screen time by asking out two women walking along the streets. After that, you never see him again. Amazing!

PT Anderson's period-comedy-drama is well acted and it looks gorgeous. It does have a few slow moments though. Bradley Cooper is funny in a brief appearance as real-life mogul Jon Peters. Alana Haim is quite good in her film debut. While it does seem heartfelt at times, it cannot help but feel self-indulgent.

A movie so full of life that it's almost surreal, the picaresque "Licorice Pizza" has to be Paul Thomas Anderson's most joyous film yet.
