Nic Cage plays Nick Cage in a not-quite-real version of himself - along with "Nicky" - a much younger and more Wild at Heart version. Pedro Pascal is a the mega-fan who invites the struggling actor (in more ways than one) to Spain for a birthday party (and rather large paycheck) but soon the actor finds himself undercover trying to bring down a drug ring and rescue a kidnapped girl. It works surprisingly well as a meta-comedy that proves Cage can still have fun and be entertaining. If you're a fan of the actor at all, you'll have a good time.

For what it is, it’s decent, but man this could have been much better. I feel like it's missing something. I mean, imagine if this was directed by someone like Spike Jonze. Other than that, both Nicholas Cage and Pedro Pascal are entertaining together, so there's that.

Nicolas Cage is funny playing a riff on himself and his weird persona. Pedro Pascal is a good contrast in this buddy action comedy. While the film is light and goofy, I will admit it's not quite as funny as I was expecting. But I can see some brand-new memes about Nicolas Cage emerging from this movie.

An entertaining and inspired meta action-comedy that gets better mileage the bigger a Nick Cage fanatic you are.

It feels like someone made the decision at the 11th hour to tone down the ridiculousness of the script, perhaps even the shot material. Nothing soars like you think it will and every positive moment fizzles into nothingness.
