A script that doesn't carry the movie that much. The movie has some really slow scenes but normally i like slow scenes because it's building up to something, well not this movie.

A striking, artistically directed and well acted piece. It's dark and cold presentation is alluring. At first I thought these aspects were to enhance the meaning behind the internal nature of the characters. But alas, I found nothing beneath the surface of the shiny exterior. The film left me cold and wanting more from it's dry story and characters. Such a shame, because I did enjoy the style and performances.

A weak script threatens to sink Stoker throughout. The storyline is at times silly, confused, and forgettable. However, in the hands of Chan-wook Park, it's the striking, sumptuous visuals and brilliant editing that elevates the film and makes it worth watching. Not only that, but Kidman and, in particular, Wasikowska give delicious performances that are impossible to turn away from. It's all style over very little substance, but what style it is!
