Metaphysische Gewalt

Kill List beginnt mit verbaler Gewalt am Tisch während des Abendessens, steigert sich zu eigentlicher Gewalt in einem Killer-Szenario und schliesslich zu metaphysischer Gewalt. Kill List steckt voller Rätsel und ist auch noch total verrückt! Am meisten verunsichert aber, dass man sich permanent in einem viel besseren Film wähnt, als es Kill List in Wahrheit ist. Der Film beginnt mit dem Treffen zweier Paare: Die Männer mittleren Alters, die Frauen jünger. Jay (Neil Maskell) versucht verzweifelt, Arbeit zu finden, um seine ukrainische Frau und das Kind zu unterstützen. Sein Freund Gal (Michael Smiley) hat ein Angebot, das viel Geld bringt: Einen Mord. Kill List is a strange film to be sure. But it's also a wonderful slowburn where things become stranger and stranger and the viewer is left in the dark just like the protagonist. Usually films dealing with the occult are either over the top or silly, but this one is more along the lines of the original wicker man, it slowly creeps under your skin until you feel just as disoriented and frustrated as the main character. Even if the ending is somewhat predictable and a little bit of a disappointment, everything leading up to it is very well done, great acting, with a very unsettling atmosphere. You may need subs though, as the accent can be very hard to understand. Still Kill List is a wonderfully stage, at times truly scary, genre piece..
