My Week with Marilyn

The movie felt a little bit like a documentary. The way it was shot and edited. Not bad. But just with someone documented about this event. The acting of this movie is incredibly strong. Williams and Branagh are wonderful. Both Oscar-worthy. Eddie Redmayne does a well job and Watson and Dench are as usual good.
The movie is directed pretty and the cinematography is good. The costumes were wonderful.

The script was the weak spot of the movie. If the story is real the writer must have changed a lot of things which gave the movie an unrealistic touch. Moreover, the movie was moving very slow.

The editing of the movie was really strange it felt like they had to do very many takes, to film one scene. For example: Colin hands Sir Laurence a cigar. In the next shot Sir …

My Week with Marilyn review

This felt like a documentary than a movie. Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne) persistently tries to get a job on Laurence Olivier's (Kenneth Branagh) next picture. Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams). Colin's first task is to locate a place for Marilyn and her husband, Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott). Performances of Branagh, Watson, Dench and especially Williams were spectacular. Only gripes this critic had were the lack of an interesting lead character, sufficient impact on he plot and a few dull scenes to ensure the love angle for Clark and Monroe was provided. Physically, Williams doesn't match the real Marilyn Monroe, but makes-up through her mimicking and vocal prowess. Costumes, music and prop sets were good to show its era. My Week with Marilyn Is a descent drama based on the books of …

Ideal For Lifetime.

A bit of Marylin worship..

Unfortunately, it offers very little else.

Michelle Williams gave it her all, and her performance is to be respected.. But the screenplay is unbelievably weak, mildly annoying, and feels more like a made-for-TV movie from the late 80s.
Poor writing can soil any chance of a truly excellent performance out of an actor. When the words go wrong it's almost uncomfortable to watch. I found myself snickering during several scenes.. The cheesiness was just overwhelming at times.

A story deadset on painting Monroe as an otherworldly acting talent/genius. Difficult to work with and impossible to understand, but so full of brilliance that anyone with any complaints about her is a jealous villain.. This is Marylin Monroe, not Elizabeth Taylor, right? Perhaps …

Great Performances But Horrible Plot

An OK movie with a great performance by Michelle Williams. I do not really like her but she does do a pretty good job of getting the part right.

The Story: I felt this to be very week. Yes some random guy hangs out with Marilyn Monroe for a week or so. Nothing really exciting happens. 100 + people probably could have written the same thing. In fact, I think a biopic or a movie surrounding her high profile relationships would be much more interesting. I give this part of the story an F.

Style/Cinematography: Again, this part of the movie was pretty standard. Nothing cool, nothing new. It was like watching a normal, LIfetime Movie. I just didn't find it interesting. The only thing good was the countryside and the Windsor Castle tour.

The Music: I don't remember it. I think it …
