I have to say that when the movie ended I was like "what the f***", I thought it was good but to me it made absolutely no sense. I got that she was losing her mind, but I didn't understand why. After I'd talked to more people they made me understand that her being a performer, she was so caught up in being great that she starts to go a little crazy. Okay, but it still doesn't explain how she was able to perform *SPOILER ALERT after she was stabbed in the gut by a piece of mirror *shrugs*

Beautiful, Beautiful. Darren won me back with this one. (A huge improvement from The Wrestler.) Natalie Portman is remarkable (of course.) Her performance is one that strikes you with her facial expressions alone. This film is eerie and gorgeously raw. Audiences needed this.

A film about the destructive nature of obsession, Darren Aronofsky's ballet themed thriller is a fantastic, yet disturbing picture of a ballerina's descent into madness. Not enough can be said about the perfectly developed transformation of Natalie Portman's innocent Nina Sayer's into a murderous (or suicidal) maniac. While driven by her competition with Mila Kunis's character and her own need to succeed, Nina allows herself to destroy her own identity in order to become the "perfect" girl she's forced to be. With a haunting score, skin crawling cinematography, and amazingly elegant dancing sequences, Black Swan is a one of a kind thriller that will both haunt and astound you.

Visually and tonally, Black Swan is a masterpiece that stands up to Aronofsky's earlier work. Yes, the film is thematically obvious and some of the symbolism is over-the-top. If you've seen an Aronofsky film (ahem, the Fountain?), you kind of expect this broad visual approach that bangs you over the head relentlessly with the film's goals. In Black Swan, however, it works, mainly because of the haunting score - which incorporates classic sections of Swan Lake with Mansell's trademark modern touch - and Natalie Portman's career performance. Love it or hate it, Black Swan is a must see.

"Black Swan" is about ballerina pressured about her career. The lights are now on for her, its her moment but conflicts are just around her and within her. Wow! This is a great movie. I watch it because it is a nominated film for Golden Globe and potentially one for Oscars. I expected so much from this movie and am satisfied. From the moment it starts, I know there will be more coming, and i was right! The run is really smooth. Very good performances. Exceptional story, the real drama and representations. WELL DONE!

This movie was basically flawless and is the first film of Aronofsky's to come close to the sheer emotional devastation of 'Requiem For A Dream', in my opinion. It's a wonderful horror movie to boot, one that had me gasping aloud in the theater and shivering in my seat. It's also wonderfully shot and has some killer performances from Winona Ryder, Vincent Cassel, and of course, Natalie Portman, who really makes the movie by portraying true terror and vulnerability. I hate to overstate my case, but in my opinion, Aronofsky is today's Kubrick, making imaginative, unexpected films in many genres and making few missteps on the way. This movie will not be forgotten easily once seen.
