Like a modern Hitchcock film, Cache is a perfect exercise in slow burn horror, creating mood and tension with each building frame. Haneke is best when he puts characters we care about in realistic, but terrifying situations and Cache is one of his very best films. You start out thinking you may be bored, but by the time the first VHS cassette shows up, you're hooked. Genuinely very creepy.

Interesting as horror film, effective. But not nearly great film, need to try harder.

I read all of the reviews that gave this movie such high reviews and I really didn't see what the hype was about. Granted the acting was solid and the writing was good. The movie had amazing dialogue and scenes that really build up the suspense. But overall there was a subplot that was never resolved or really addressed for that matter, scenes that didn't really add anything other then time to the film and an ending that was just kind of their. Maybe I missed the point but this movie just wasn't anything special to me. You may really like this movie but I can't say that I feel the same way. I do guarantee that there is a scene that will make you gasp out loud though.

Intellectual and cerebral thriller that demands the full attention of the viewer. Metamorphosing from a simple riddle into a complex and challenging mystery-encompassing relationships, lies and secrets, Cache (or Hidden as it is known in the UK) never takes the easy route. Stirring performance from the two leads help to create an aura of suspense and even bewilderment in this multi layered, expertly crafted movie.

After watching the movie I wanted my two hours back. It is boring, slow and the characters are not at all endearing. You really couldn't care less if someone was tormenting them because you will want to do join in.

Smart, vague drama makes potent statements about society's obsession with voyeurism; it's refusal to give closure only makes it that much more intriguing. Final Grade: B
