Michael Caine plays a hack writer of sleazy crime fiction who is roped into a real life mystery. It’s more laidback than the usual detective yarn, but Caine’s dry sense of humor carries it along.

I wanted to like this film much more than I did. However, Michael Caine took himself much too seriously.
