"Hitman" by Yojimbo

An enigmatic assassin is double-crossed by his client and finds himself the target of the Russian secret police, Interpol and his own secret organisation. Hitman is yet another in a long line of the new generation of conspiracy action thrillers; in others words it is exactly the same as The Bourne Identity. Baldy Bourne efficiently ploughs through the appropriate mix of assassinations and well orchestrated bloodbaths and as long as there's arterial spray on the screen, it's serviceable enough. The inevitable and inevitably unwise decision to add a romantic interest not only undermines the origins of the character but also adds by far the weakest aspect of the film, although I for one am not going to complain about seeing a lot of Olga Kurylenko (all of her in fact...) As a whole it's a …

"Hitman" is not as good as even the average action movie. As contradictory as this may sound, "Hitman" is both action-packed AND boring, as well as plotless AND complicated.

Once I figured out about half-way through that it was a familiar story about the bad guy being set-up, therefore becoming the good guy, I had already lost interest. It could have been decent if it had some style or characterization, but the action sequences are lifeless and I'm afraid Timothy Olyphant, who I normally love, was not right for the lead role.

Four days later, I can barely remember this movie.

"Skin Rating" = 1 (out of 4). A brief shower scene with Timothy, but a clear view of his body is largely obscured by water and steam. Later, he briefly wears a "wife-beater", but never removes it.

More Blood More Fun

Ah yes, nothing satisfies me more than a cold blooded assassin doing what he does best, to kill. What a wonderful sight to see all mayhem and destruction one person could bring in films like this. Timothy Olyphant was a perfect choice to play Agent 47. There is this subtleness in his face yet inside he's down right blood thirsty. And to me his character was up there with the likes of Jason Bourne, Neo and even Bond himself. As you know there are very few actors who are born to play their roles, and to my opinion Timothy Olyphant was one of them. Action sequences were spectacular, specifically this one scene where a suitcase of money blew up and as the dollar bills flew in the air he massacred everybody on sight. Kind of reminiscent of the bar scene in desperado but I guess the …
