This movie suckeddddd. There are so many damn plot holes in the movie I just laugh. Ohh lets see aliens just dropped a bomb that wipes out electronic devices where cars and radios don't work but what is the first thing we see a man with a video camera taping it wow. That is just the beginning the whole movie is filled with crap like that it seems that the people making the movie couldn't even stop to take time to realize what the hell they were doing. And the whole basement seen was so stupid I couldn't believe it. I do not recommend this movie and I find it one of the worst I have ever seen in plot wise. Although the acting wasn't bad.

The concept was good, the directing was amazing but I wanted Dakota Fannings character dead in the first couple minute of her being on screen. The fact that they just had her scream the entire movie, and then to make her mentally disturbed on top of it was a really bad way to go. The ending was lackluster, the only real thing worth while was the special effects.

There are several scenes in this movie that are TRULY specatular - the scene with Tim Robbins, Cruise Running through the streets, and where the tri pods are plucking the humans from the earth. The bad ending off sets what could have been

The special effects are great, the casting and acting are pretty good - but something is just off in this remake of the 1953 classic War of the Worlds. The all-too-sweet Speildberg ending doesn't help either.
