If you like nonsensical summer action movies, then this is for you. Good off-the-wall action and a decent story that isn't dumb.

I knew what to expect going in and got a little bit more, the way the plot unfolded was surprising and welcome. R rated action movies are always welcome in my book as they don't seem like desperate money grabs, yes I'm looking at you Terminator 4. The action scenes were over the top and awesome, and who doesn't like a good sword fight with guns? James McAvoy is destined for great things with a great performance that I'm not used to seeing in movies like this. Bekmambetov teeters dangerously into Tony Scott territory without falling in, he can't keep a shot simple and must move camera all the time, all he's missing is the filters. A good time with a bit of plot thrown in and a nice performance by the lead.

Surpirisingly a very good movie. You can't go into the movie thinking that it is a movie that is going to make sense. It is similar to the matrix in that it does defy the laws of physics. But once you understand that fact, it is a great movie, with alot of action, and great camera shots. The effects are not too over the top, but seem relatively believeable. I was a bit pessimistic about John McAvoy, because he isn't really that attractive. But his strong acting made up for him. I don't think that they did enough to promote this movie before it came out. This movie was very entertaining, and I would see it again in a heartbeat.
