Surprisingly funny and meaningful. Some Kind of Wonderful like flick but with darker tones. Mavis Gary (Charlize Theron) is a divorced writer who tries to woo back her old flame. She receives an email from Buddy Slade (Patrick Wilson) and his wife Beth's (Elizabeth Reaser) new baby. Plot maybe ludicrous, even the character of Matt Freehauf (Patton Oswalt), still it's endearing qualities are its script and impressive showing of Charlize Theron. Best dialogues were "We just thought it was a nice memory." "It's good to keep those people in your life. The people who really know you best." from Hedda, "Sometimes in order to heal a few people have to get hurt." and "It's really difficult for me to be happy. And then for other people it just seems so simple. I know. They just grow up and they're so fulfilled." from Mavis. Young Adult felt like a black comedy that touches on finding true happiness, living in the past and ethics. Generation X'ers will enjoy the soundtrack alone.
