Cure (2001) review

Kenichi Takabe (Yakusho) is a detective with an unstable wife who tries to resolve murder cases. Mamiya (Hagiwara) used to be a student of psychology who studied mesmerism and hypnosis and is interrogated by Takabe. Albeit slow for a thriller though the acting and plot were interesting. There is a twist however in the conclusion which rewards the viewers patience. It does have that Se7en and Silence feel, but lacks the impact and entertainment value overall that the aformentioned films mentioned. Almost at par with Manhunter but lacks the participation of the antagonist to make it scary. Cure still shows how a thriller should be done with excellent camera direction and believable figures for a crime thriller.
