Wall-E review

Several WALL-E’s (Waste Allocation Load Lifter, Earth Class) were tasked to clean-up the earth from years of trash accumulated. Humans now live in a ship called Axiom where everything can be accessed with a push of a button or voice command. A robot named EVE (Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator) was tasked to look for any living organism to provide future vegetation, to bring back Earth’s natural resources to make it livable again.

A few memorable lines: Captain – “But life is sustainable now. Look at this plant. Green and growing. It's living proof he was wrong.” “I don't want to survive. I want to live.” A simple premise yet everything from the eye-catching graphics, delightful script and a myriad of themes such as humanity, love, consumerism, leisure, responsibility in our environment and hope was well exhibited. Even the emotions of the two lead robots were heartfelt and genuine. Gestures to express themselves were innovative in a way and enjoyable. You felt the humor, drama and excitement without any fancy dialogues at times. The space scenes were a work of art as well. Clearly it is one of the best written animated films produced. Its soundtrack brings back classic pictures, which adds life to the movie.

The DVD’s special features were appealing as well. With 6 nominations (score, screenplay, song, sound editing, sound mixing, animated feature) and a Best Animated Award from the Academy Awards and Golden Globes proves its legend as one of the best sci-fi animated flicks around. In my perception, WALL-E’s legacy will never tarnish because of its elegant visuals, classic score, emotions displayed and universal subjects that can be loved by worlds all over regardless of age.
