I can honestly say that I saw this movie about 50 times between 1996 and 1997. My freshman year of college and I had acquired this film on one of my last days of working for Blockbuster. I thought it was great. The thing about this movie is that the ideas behind it are timeless. There is always going to be someone that gets picked on in high school for being the fat kid. This is the movie about Angus Bethume, he is the fat kid that desires the hottest and most popular girl in his school. She happens to be going out with his mortal enemy the kid that has razzed him about his weight ever since grade school played by James (Mr Dawson's Creek himself) Vanderbeek, although this film was 2 years before DC.
The movie has a ton of one liners that make it absolutely classic. It also gave a start to Chris Owen who later went on to be "The Shermanator" from the hit American Pie. Even now the guys that I keep up with from school know what "getting a slice of the ol' d*ck pie" means.
This will always be considered one of my favorite coming of age films, I would highly recommend it to anyone.
