Storm Warning (1951)

A city girl (Ginger Rogers) accidentally witnesses a murder by the KKK while visiting her sister (Doris Day) in the Deep South. She becomes the star witness for a crusading prosecutor (Ronald Reagan) but is torn between doing the right thing and protecting her sister. Great moral quandary by the lead character helped by a progressive, forward thinking script as far as film noirs go. Ronald Reagan is good as the tough cop.
