Tightrope (1984)

This grim and sometimes frightening thriller puts an unique spin on Clint Eastwood's normally stoic protagonists. He plays a divorced detective with a penchant for prostitutes that's assigned to track down a serial killer targeting hookers. The case becomes complicated when he befriends a psychologist (Bujold) and worse, the killer begins stalking Eastwood's family. There are some gripping moments in Tightrope but it is often unsettling or downright disturbing. Eastwood shines as a more vulnerable protagonist than we're used to seeing though.
