Chris Miller’s Puss in Boots is a wholesome pack for funny moments to cherish reminding the old rhyme character humpty dumpty and also bringing back the best character missed from Shrek. Always when Dream works bring a movie on to the big screen it is the time to celebrate. Puss in boots delivers the goods. The elements of the movie like lengthy chase scene in a chariot run by red eyed pigs and a giant tree that unleashes its green leaves with glimpses of romantic interlude and oncoming danger is all submerged to give fun. The plot is imaginary and strictly those who believe in fairy tales can consider it even. The action part was having its own share of novelty and cleverness. Chris Miller with his previous movies like Shrek and Madagascar has proved he would not make any mistake in delivering the best. But after some bad time with the third part of Shrek he is back pulling a character from it and making a wholesome entertainer.
The plot is about puss in boots (voiced by Antonio banderas) who wants to be free from his charges and prove innocent for all his undone offense. He goes to a club with drunkards and demands them jack and Jill’s address so that he can steal the magic beans. He gets access successfully by breaking the glass of their home or hotel. He is interfered by a masked cat. Later he finds that it is actually a female and she is working for his old enemy humpty (voiced by Zach galifianakis). He now has a past with puss and after all such things humpty asks for a chance he could repay and they set together along with kitty soft paws (voiced by salma hayek) to retrieve the magic beans that could give access to the golden egg giving goose at the top of the clouds. Puss in boots runs for 90 minutes. The beginning was all the way the cowboy man puss in boots escaping from his master. He marches ahead and faces his oncoming dangers and surprises. The actual runtime is actually fine considering 80 minutes. The first 40 minutes was crazy fun with wild pig chase, lengthy dance sequence, some backdrop narration and also some selfishness. Who cares the plot because it is all fun. The next part is adventurous and also emotional. On a whole it is sheer fun. The climax is sure to change the minds as it is both emotionally challenging and refreshing.
Characters are tower of strength to the movie. Children can enjoy along with parents as they enjoy the depth in character. Their development is perfect. Some are hard minders and some are good at heart inside. Puss is fantastic. He is cool attractive charming but what all happens to him when he loses his heart. He just stays emotional. Humpty dumpty is a rotten egg. He is more than something in the character. Kitty soft paw is soft and also slightly romantic. Character is perfectly tuned. Jack and Jill are some cool bad characters regularly seen in many movies. Voices are all perfect and Antonio banderas was the perfect choice for the voice of puss.
Distant scenery of puss on top of the horse, showing his back in the moon light and also some funny sword action scenes are the best in terms of presentation. The tall tree sequence is large and looms if watched in 3D. Animation work is a child’s play. Generally many movies have the common saying action speaks louder than words. But in this case both are fair. It gives entertainment and also dialogues drive the emotional quotient. Chris miller’s Puss in Boots is a treat. (I missed the dialogue from the trailer). I give A and a score of 3/4
