This list would be my best of movie adaptations - some books I haven't read, but hope so soon, because the movies were intriguing enough.

Book Adaptations comment
This list mostly serves just as a reminder that one particular movie is adapted from the book (which I would like to read or have read before). There are really some horrid adaptations, just as Scarlet Letter and Congo, but are adaptations anyway and the books might be worth reading if I haven't read them already. Although, the first thirteen on the list I love and consider the movies great too. The others I've read or just seen or both, but didn't put in any particular order. That would be …

Stephen King alone has 41 adaptations made from his books (the majority pretty mediocre)- is this list in order of favorite to least favorite adaptation? I would have to say that To Kill a Mockingbird would be have to be near the top of my list and (according to what I've rated) The Scarlet Letter (1995) is the worst.
