Plot: When a new lifeform dubbed the astrophage is found consuming the sun's energy - and most of the rest of similar stars in our galaxy - disgraced scientist-turned teacher Ryland Grace is brought in to help figure out how the organisms function. Project Hail Mary, led by Eva Stratt, has one goal to save humanity - send a team to Tau Ceti, the only star not effected by the astrophage, and hopefully find a solution before Earth loses it sun. Waking up as the sole surviving crew member - and with amnesia to boot, Grace finds a connection with a rock-like alien as they learn to work together to save both their worlds. -- Chris Kavan

This Long Shot Pays Off

When the worst thing I can think to say about Project Hail Mary is "Ryan Gosling, why the hell do you wear your glasses like that?" - I guess it's doing almost everything right.
I loved The Martian - one of my favorite sci-fi/comedy/drama films of the post 2000 period - and when I heard author Andy Weir's Project Hail Mary was going to be made into a film, my expectations were through the roof. I have to say, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller do just as well as Ridley Scott in adapting the novel to the big screen and getting Ryan Gosling on board is just the feather in this cap.
