Plot: Celebrity model couple Carl and Yaya board a cruise for the ultra wealthy with a rogues gallery of passengers including a Russian oligarch, a British arms dealer and the eccentric Marx-quoting captain. But this pleasure cruise soon turns disastrous as a heavy storm leads to an unplanned island getaway. A little obvious but nevertheless true, "Triangle of Sadness" workfully skewers luxury and privilege with an absurdist microcosm of societal power structures.

“Shit. I sell shit.” Triangle of Sadness may not be everybody’s type of comedy or may be too strange for some, but I thought this was hilarious. There’s a scene in this movie where everybody on the cruise ship has seasick and explosive diarrhea, and the sick look so realistic that even I started to feel sick. It’s a bizarre movie that weirdly feels and looks like a foreign language film, even though it’s not. Of course, this will only appeal to an audience that will appreciate it by its odd nature, and for those people, I highly recommend it, lol. Also, rest in peace Charlbi Dean Kriek. I was shocked to learn of her unexpected passing afterward. She was so young and had a bright future ahead. Damn, that sucks.

If You're Gonna Spew, Spew Into This

While I expected Ruben Östlund's wicked comedy to completely skewer the rich, he actually presents quite a few in a decent light - but it's still fine to watch them suffer. From a pair of influencer models (Harris Dickinson and Charlbi Dean - may she rest in peace) to a Russian oligarch specializing in fertilizer (Zlatko Buric) to a delightful old British couple who made their fortune by mass producing weapons of war (Amanda Walker and Oliver Ford Davies) - the film is also packed with memorable characters - with Woody Harrelson standing out as the communist-bend captain and Dolly De Leon as the help-turned-savior once things really take a turn for the worse. Granted, you may find it hard to stomach the post-captain dinner orgy of bodily fluids, but stick with it as the film truly …
