Plot: In the 1990s a lonely bachelor named David, tired of the drudgery of caring for his ailing mother, decides to try a video dating service but is intrigued by a strange VHS tape called Rent-A-Pal. A film about soul-crushing loneliness and finding a true connection - unfortunately for David (Brian Landis Folkins) he finds this connection via an overly-cheerful VHS tape featuring Wil Wheaton as a creepy combination of Mister Rogers and Ted Bundy. When he finds an actual connection to Lisa (Amy Rutledge), he's gone too far down the rabbit hole and things get dangerous fast. The movie is far more psychological than outright horror but David's transformation from lovable loser to full-on psycho is a bit too sudden and the movie takes a bit to get going but it has that vibe that makes it weird and certainly... interesting.
