Steven Spielberg only updates this classic musical slightly, but he is still one of the best directors out there and with pitch-perfect casting (hats off especially to Zelger, DeBoxe, Faist and, of course, the legend Rita Moreno), vibrant visuals and expert cinematography, what is old feels new again and a must-see for any fan of musicals.

Although the story and characters are just as plain now as they were in 1961, Spielberg recaptures the appeal of the original and recreates it with a more technically impressive style.
