Plot: In post-WWII Hamburg, a British colonel, assigned to help rebuild the city, is joined by his wife during the bitter winter. Stately period drama about a British couple forced to share lodging with a grieving widower after WW2. The performances are solid and the cinematography is very good. There's even a little wartime espionage intrigue thrown in. I like the direction for its elegance but I do wish it went further with the romantic tension of the situation.
