Even though the film is now over 30 years old, it has lost none of its impact. Much like Grave of the Fireflies, Threads is a harrowing tale that will leave you shaken. It doesn't need fancy effects - the chilling nature of nuclear holocaust on its own is enough to send one reeling, but it's the human toll that makes it effective. As important today as when it came out and given its limited availability stateside until now, certainly worth re-visiting.
