Watching the 1982 Kirkland team it's easy to see why they won: pure, unadulterated joy - having fun, playing hard, but playing because they liked it, not because they're looking for a contract in the majors. I think that's what's missing in so many youth sports: it's all business and being the best, not fun anymore.
