Courtroom drama given a massive boost by Orson friggin Welles as the lawyer assigned to defend two young men who kill a boy as an intellectual exercise from the gallows. Inspired by the Leopold & Loeb murder trial from the 1920s.

Inspired by the real life Leopold and Loeb thrill killing, "Compulsion" works better as a detective and legal drama than an insight into a killer's mind.

Another film that was ahead of its time, because of the attempted rape sequence. It sort of shook me up. But it was a court-room drama much like Anatomy of a Murder, and I've had enough of that kind of thing lately. It was also too much and not handled in the most tasteful way.
