When Will You Join the 500 Club?

No not THAT 500 Club, I mean the 500-movie club. I'm almost there! Some people might think owning 500 movies is madness. They take up a lot of room, they're a pain to organize and sometimes they're even a pain to watch (I've had The Godfather Trilogy for about two years now, and I still haven't sat down to watch it).

Yet for all the trouble and money, I'm proud of my collection. Movies, TV shows, Anime - my collection is truly a labor of love - and deep-seated desire to simply own things. But I have some gems - my out-of-print Criterions, my Untitled version of Almost Famous, the limited-numbered edition of Cowboy Bebop. I also have way too many mediocre horror films, and a bootleg copy of Dead Ringers that I paid too much for was burned on.

Sure, I may only watch most of the films once, but one thing's for sure - no matter what you're in the mood for, I'm sure I could find something worth your while. My favorites may not be your favorites, but I'm willing to branch out now and again.

One thing I'm not willing to do yet is convert to Blu-Ray. Considering the sheer size, it would totally bankrupt me. So until they kill it off completely, I'm sticking with dependable DVDs. It only took me 10 years or so to amass such a collection and I'm hardly finished. In a few years down the road maybe I'll be extolling the virtues of the 1000 Club -- or renting out a storage unit.
