A wonderfully charming film full of highlights by some of the greatest actors to ever walk the Earth (including Kate Winslet, Tom Wilkinson, Emma Thompson, Hugh Laurie, and Alan Rickman), along with lovely directing by Ang Lee. A great story provided by the ponderous work of Jane Austen brings to light many of the problems associated with relationships of the time and how relevant they are to relationships now. A recommended find.

Okay, I'm a closet Jane Austen fan. I was forced to read Pride and Prejudice in my Novels class, and Idiscovered that I loved it. I recently decided to read Sense and Sensibility (outside of class) and upon finishing the book, my Novels teacher let me borrow the movie. I actually enjoyed it more than the book, which is rare. Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet are great as Elinor and Marianne. Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman are also outstanding. Overall it was an amazing film.

I love movies that deal with two characters and do not focus on just one. Elinor and Marianne Dashwood are sisters, but are polar opposites of each other. I felt more like Elinor who kept her feelings inside, until the very end of course. The book is an ok read and is pretty much the same, but the actors infuse life into the story and I like the movie much better. Ang Lee is a talented director. Sometimes he makes a movie that's a little strange like Hulk, but usually he hits the mark with other successes such as Hidden Tiger, Crouching Dragon.
