A man caught by CIA believing he is connected to a terrorist. Three people surround this case, a CIA officer who keeps him on torture, an American CIA operative who observes his interrogation, and his wife who works so hard to find where he is. *** I haven't seen the trailer of this film before actually watching it. I just grabbed a DVD copy of it because of Meryl Streep's name printed on cover. And I was pleasantly surprised that this movie was really good. I like the over-all visual of the film which did not bore me at all. Obviously, what the audience would complain about this movie is the incomplete story, I mean, it appeared that nothing was really resolved except the Khalil and Fatima part. But still, a good watch.

Directed by Gavin Hood and starring Reese Witherspoon, Meryl Streep, Peter Sarsgaard, Alan Arkin, Jake Gyllenhaal and Omar Metwally. It centers on the controversial CIA practice of extraordinary rendition, and is based on the true story of Khalid El-Masri who was mistaken for Khalid al-Masri. The movie also has similarities to the case of Maher Arar.Well made and intense political thriller.Good.

The acting was great, but I was never able to be drawn in by the story, as hard as it tried. I don't know if it was the characters or the pacing, but something kept me from making any great connection. Still, it's worth a watch.

I don't understand why "Rendition" was so universally panned upon its theatrical release. I thought it was quite good. However, it's another one of those political movies that makes me mad. Where do you draw the line between protecting our country and torturing innocent people? The answer seems so simple when you're watching, but for the first time, I sort of understood both sides. This compounded the frustration. Anyway, as a movie, it was effective with some good acting. I can actually stomach Reese Witherspoon in small, dramatic roles such as in this and in "Crash". Skin Rating = 3.5 (out of 4). I don't really want to be looking at skin in a movie like this. However, Jake Gyllenhaal shirtless. I'm speechless.

This movie was very well cast with powerful performances all around. The plot was interesting and current, however the order of events in this movie left me confused. It was good, but at the ending credits I was left scratching my head trying to figure things out.

A great movie. This controversial movie will definitely make you think twice about our anti-terrorist acts. I have to disagree with the other reviews of this movie because I thought it always kept pace and I was emotionally charged the whole way through the movie. It definitely takes the spin of how out of control things like the patriot act can get. This movie has the story and the performances to make it one of my favorites from 2007.

A noble effort, but this movie only manages to be uninteresting. Despite the heavy subject matter, the movie makes no real point out of it except "torture is bad...like really", and even has to throw a lame twist in near the end to try and keep things interesting. The acting is fine, but I couldn't shake the feeling that everything could have been done much better.
