This film is light-hearted and entertaining. I liked seeing Scarlet Johansson show some depth. It seems like every film she's in she's playing a vixen. Here, she was enjoyable to watch. Actually, the whole movie was enjoyable. It's obviously not a masterpiece, but it gets the job done.

A lifeless and uncharismatic dramedy with a very phony sentimental relationship at its core (between Johansson and the child, whom we never really get to know or like); Giamatti and especially Linney overplay the upscale, neglectful parents and turn in rather hateful performances. Scarlett would be deserved of some sympathy if it didn't take her the entire length of the movie to finally stand up for herself. There's also the expected meet cute romantic angle for the heroine, and when all is done, we realize we never cared for any of these people. Blah! Final Grade: C-

once again scarlett johansson has dissappointed me. i liked the plot of the story, but for some reason i think that she just wasn't right for the role.

This was a cute movie that warms your heart. It was fun but it's not something I would want to buy or something I could watch over and over again.

I had a tough time deciding if I was going to give this movie 2 1/2 stars or 3 stars. It was a very good movie but was it 3 star worthy? As of right know I am going to have to go with yes. That may change in the future but it was a good movie and I am still stuck in the feel good mood of seeing it. as for the movie it is a very sweet movie with lots of laughs. It is not a guy movie but it is a good date movie. I like Scarlett Johansson, yes even for her acting ability, and was surprised to see Paul Giamatti as the slime ball husband. I mean can you ever go wrong with Paul Giamatti? So in conclusion if you are girl or a guy with a girl this movie is defiantly worth renting and not waiting till it is on cable to watch.
