A young Spanish immigrant living in Berlin encounters a group of friends on a night out and becomes embroiled in a bank heist.
The conceit of Victoria is not contained so much in its plot, but in its execution; it is filmed in its entirety as one rolling shot where the camera never leaves the side of its protagonist and is told in real time. This makes for a pseudo-documentary feel that enhances the realism of the story, but also throws into sharp relief some of the inconsistencies in the plot. Would a young girl alone in a big city really choose to befriend a group of drunken young men as they are forcibly ejected from a club, attempt to steal nearby cars and start brawls on passing strangers? Implausible enough, but within an hour of meeting them, she is volunteering to help them …

cinegeek.de Victoria ist eine atemberaubende technische Leistung! So wird es auch auf dem Plakat angekündigt: Eine Stadt, eine Nacht, ein Take. 138 Minuten lang filmten Sebastian Schipper und sein Team den gesamten Film in einem durch. Sie taten das einige Male und suchten am Ende einfach die beste Version aus. Mit anderen Worten: Hier gibt es keine Mogeleien. Keine versteckten Schnitte, etwa wenn eine Tür geschlossen wird oder jemand an einer verdächtigen Wand entlang läuft. Schipper filmt in Echtzeit nachts in Berlin und entwickelt seine Geschichte zu einem intensiven Action Film. Leider ist die zweite Hälfte nicht mehr ganz so spannend wie die erste, weil die Charaktere (um den One Take zu erfüllen?) einige schwachsinnige Entscheidungen treffen müssen.
