Small Heartwarming Film It’s nothing big and epic, But Shazam! proves that not all Superhero movies have to be big and ambitious. Sometimes taking it easy is the way to go. Rating: Fresh

Surprisingly entertaining and good-humored piece. On how it was directed, it targets both young audiences and young at heart. I couldn't believe I would actually laugh on its jokes and punchlines. I thought it was made for middle schoolers but here I am, a 26-year old unemployed dude enjoying the movie more than I predicted I would. Definitely worth our while. I will be waiting for a sequel!

Thanks to a fun performance by Zachary Levi and a light yet imaginative spirit, Shazam is an entertaining take on the superhero genre. It works fine as a family film, a buddy flick, and a tentpole blockbuster. Levi plays the part similar to Tom Hanks in Big;he’s just a big kid at heart. Mark Strong is serviceable as the villain but he’s less interesting than his own demonic henchmen. It does run a little too long like the other DCEU movies.

The kind of movie "Superman" movies used to be, "Shazam!" is a whirlwind of delight.
