I was neither impressed nor entertained. Other than a few really good costumes (I mean this is a story about haunted houses) it was a wasted effort and the found footage aspect did nothing for me. On the other hand, it felt like this could actually happen as underground haunted houses sound like a thing that could exist, but it never connect with me.

A new favorite! This movie was a lot of fun and creepy as hell. I found myself legitimately caring for the main characters and really feared for their well-being. I used to think the horror genre was dead, but thanks to this (and a few others) I see it's not dead, you just have to find it. The Houses October Built has just made its way onto my annual Halloween movie list.

This is a really clever idea for a horror film, and one of the more fresh of the found-footage horror genre. How many times have you gone through some intense haunted house attraction and wondered "what if one of these masked freaks just sneaked in and is actually a psycho?" The Houses October Built takes that idea and adds some unique twists. There are some truly creepy, and some even downright frightening, moments here. A nice Halloween treat.
