While I can't compare to the original as I haven't seen it myself, this version is rather cold but does present a chilling look into the lives of a rich family and a rather unfortunate maid caught up in their lives. It can drag a bit but stick with it up to the end.

This is a remake of a 1960 film and like most such, it doesn't come close to the quality of the original. The setting now is one of extreme opulence, a stark comparison to the first film in which the circumstances of the titular employee were that not that different to her employer. There seething tension and powerful emotions have now been replaced by a coldness, possibly a reflection on Korean society. Fair enough, but give me the grubby b&w version any day.
