I'm not sure why a movie about a black woman was directed by a white man.

One of Spielberg's films I never really got into. A decent story and some good actors.

I feel so hard-hearted, but I was just not that impressed. It does have some noteworthy acting, but the direction is uneven. After watching, look up this word: misandry. Is it?

A color purple is a film that is quite effective in the story it tells certainly helped along by its excellent lead performance. It brings in a large cast around her as well that tend to be interesting, and add greatly to the detail of the film, making for an all around moving film. It might take you a bit to settle in by the brutality shown at times, but nevertheless it is a strong film.

Pretty nice and moving movie. I liked Margaret Avery in this a lot.
