Submerged in recycled slapstick and mean-spirited characters, "Christmas with the Kranks" is a humbug of a holiday season comedy.

Tim Allen having Botox is worth a laugh or two - and a sub-plot with M. Emmett Walsh and Elizabeth Franz concludes in a sincerely heartwarming manner - but this Christmas comedy is woefully inept at capitalising on its premise's inherent satire of consumerism and instead tries to turn its lead into a modern-day Scrooge. The results are maudlin and hollower than Donald Trump's head.

The premise had much more potential than what was given. The movie cops out, for a feel good Christmas loving ending.

Christmas with the Kranks is a disastrous "holiday" movie, with nothing to offer. The Direction is awful. The Screenplay is worse with no funny parts at all. Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis give terrible performances and lack chemistry. I can't believe this was adapted from a John Grisham novel. It is a complete waste of talent and not worth your time.

Silly, sentimental holiday comedy makes its cast do some ridiculous things just to learn a lesson in the end. Can Tim Allen find another role to play besides the goofy, put-upon dad in family films? FInal Grade: C
