Standard if stylish cyberpunk action flick.

Charlize Theron fights a repressive regime in the far future in this hyper-stylized science fiction thriller. Which if we're being honest, is clearly meant as a Matrix rip-off though ironically there was an animated series that predated the first Matrix movie. The set design is ludicrous but does look cool. The cgi has aged badly though in a number of scenes. One female character's body has hands for feet and it looks disgusting instead of creative.
Theron is convincing in the action scenes;why wasn't she cast as Catwoman instead of Halle Berry? Marton Csokas is a poor choice for a male lead. It seems he's only in the movie because Clive Owen said no.
The plot takes itself more seriously than expected which does help lend some gravitas to the proceedings. But there's a lot of …

Once again an impossibly good looking woman dons a catsuit to fight for the future of mankind against an oppressive regime blah blah blah. Having endured Ultraviolet a couple of days ago, I approached this film with a sense of impending dread but I have to say, it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Yes, it's yet another Matrix clone, and yes, plot is a little thin on the ground. In fact it could've been lifted from an episode of Star Trek, but at least it HAD one; the film actually resembles the kind of "concept" sci-fis from the 70s such as Logan's Run. The cast is above par for this kind of no-brainer, although Charlize Theron is hardly stretched by her character, and Pete Postlethwaite (who appeared to have been Tango'd) and Frances McDormand appear in inconsequential roles that …

Based on the MTV animated series of the same name, AEon Flux is real eye candy as a film - even if the depth just isn't there to sustain the story. The time is 2415, four centuries after a plague wiped out 99% of the world's population. Those left alive where all placed together in a closed-off metropolis called Bregna, once a cure was found by a member of the Goodchild family - and now, over 400 years later, the Goodchilds rule everything, and no one dares go outside of the walled-off city, where nature has again taken control.
