At last a funny stupid film. Usually I think these types of movies are just stupid, but this one was actually funny. Robert Downey Jr. stole the movie with his performance, but my favorite parts of the movies were all the unexpected actors who showed up in the smaller roles. Overall the movie wasn't as funny as I thought it would be (maybe it was just the audience I saw it with), but it was good for a few laughs. One scene towards the end (I won't give anything away) inparticular had me laughing for a good five minutes after it was over.

Very funny film that does it's best not to take itself seriously and poke fun at many Hollywood cliches. Some may view this as offensive material, but in all actuality, Tropic Thunder is actually pointing out how the perceptions are ridiculous rather than the material itself. Coming off of last week's disappointing Pineapple Express, here is an action comedy that knows what kind of movie it is from start to finish, embraces it, and does it's best to entertain you, where it succeeds greatly. My only complaint is that for some reason, every movie Jack Black is in has to have a scene of him in his underwear. It's not great to look at.
