There's some terrific genre elements in "Best the Devil," but not enough substance or consistency to hold its plot together. By the time the ship sinks, so has the movie.

Well, it looks like I liked it better than most people. It definitely had very funny moments, and an interesting plot.

Unfortunately, Humphrey Bogart had little screen time. The pace of the storytelling was distorted and Billy Dannreuther, Bogart's character was a bit dry. The supporting cast wasn't that appealing and the accents just felt awkward. Not much humor was present as well. Overall, Beat the Devil could have been way better in so many aspects, at least the title was catchy.
