Combining nonstop action, a powerful story, and unflinching visual style, it's easy to see why this assassin's tale of redemption received international attention.

There's a redemptive storyline buried in here that makes this film a unique standout from other Woo films. The action, of course, is the real star, and you can see the influence Woo's intricately choreographed scenes (particularly the massive final shootout in the church) had on directors such as Tarantino & Michael Mann.
