What makes "What's Love Got to Do With It?" more special than other music biopics, other than Angela Bassett's transformative and resilient portrayal of Tina Turner, is how it's more than just about the songs. It's a story of a woman's quest for her own independence, and the sensational performances are just the icing on top.

In my opinion it is tremendously appalling that angela bassett was not the first black woman to win the academy award for best actress. this performance was so far beyond words. angela bassett delivers in a way that serves as a hero to all aspiring african american actresses.triumphant!

A true story drama that I felt got a little too repetitive after awhile. The beginning is interesting but afterward it is basically beating after beating with greater resistance after each beating just. It just stayed this course through the whole thing and I just got bored by it in the ending. Yeah it was a bad cycle and the story should be shown as it was but it was just not dramatically compelling.

Bassett and Fishburne do an incredible job as Ike and Tina. The story itself is depressing. I love Tina and hate to see how horrible her life was with Ike. However, I've seen the movie several times and am pulled into the story every time. You can't help but love Tina.

Another really great rock and roll movie, only this one is non-fiction, plus it was another movie which was nothing like I expected it to be. I thought it was better from time to time and worse at a certain extent. Angela was a terrific Tina and Laurence took the job playing the brilliant, but spiteful Ike Turner. I thought the both of them really put on a great performance! It was marvelous! The costumes that Tina wore were so very dazzling and each part was vividly described. The movie was based upon Tina's auto biography and from what I understand the movie seems to be accurate as there hasn't been anyone to really dispute the representation of the characters in the movie. Over all its not a bad movie.
