A flawed journalist named Steve Everett (Clint Eastwood) covers the story of convicted murderer Frank Beechum (Isaiah Washington). The premise was good but unfortunately it lacks that certain impact to keep it entertaining. The only moment the film sparks was the conversation between Eastwood and James Woods and the police chase. It was baffling that Steve was able to make-it despite being stopped by cops. Fascinating how he also solved the mystery of Frank's innocence the same day he will be executed. This is definitely not one of Eastwood's best films as it is poorly written as well since there were many fillers. Denis Leary seemed like an extra and we see a young Lucy Liu in the end. It was saddening the way it ended since a life is thanked just by a simple gesture.
