Wilee (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a New York City bicycle messenger encounters an eager cop named Bobby Monday (Michael Shannon) who needs a package. He refuses the request and the chase ensues for the mysterious package. Without the leads, this would now have been that electrifying. Joseph Gordon-Levitt seemed fit for the physical role while the enigmatic underrated talents of Michael Shannon shows his acting chops especially during his confrontations with the biker. Spectacular choreography on the streets were magnificent, much like Playtime with the usage of certain settings. Soundtrack was very applicable to the mood and the plot was well paced. The directions on Wilee's phone was detailed and was a nice touch. Only thing from keeping this from becoming great was its believability. An example would be the way Wilee systematically plays out the situations in anticipation for bumping/or getting hit while in motion. It was as if an android had programmed his brain to make such calculated and swift anticipations but is wonderful to see. Nevertheless, Premium Rush is an excitingly fun chase thriller that can be enjoyed especially those who favor a bike or are messengers with two wheel.
