The Quiet Duel review

Dr. Kyoji was afflicted by Nakata, a soon to be father who has Syphilis. The nurse of Kyoji, Minegishi, secretly has feelings for him. Not as flashy or humorous as the director's films, it is still heartfelt and profound. The screenplay was it's main factor with lines such as "Don't worry about the money. We have extra rooms." - Doctor "Why have you changes so much?" "The world isn't that easy a place.." "Life is funny isn't it, it has within wheels." - Misao "You have to think of other people's happiness rather than your own." - Kyoji. Toshirō Mifune was heartwarming and authentic with his performance. Some low points were the lack of an endearing soundtrack and redundant settings. The Quiet Duel is one of the humane earlier works of Kurosawa that deserves a look because of the acting of Mifune and his intent in relaying a message of regret, reflection, honesty in line of feelings and harsh realities of a hard life.
