One of the best multiple story lines movies created. A personal favorite from the directors trilogy (which include this, 21 Grams and Babel). Masterly woven characters and situations with moral aspects and electrifying acting. The film is divided into three stories, but each character naturally interconnects with each other. First act is about the kindhearted Octavio and self sacrificing Susana. It likewise involves the brother of Octavio, the brute and insensitive Ramiro. Second segment would be about Daniel, who leaves his family for a model named Valeria. The final act is about El Chivo and Maru. Chivo was given a job to dispose somebody and makes amends with his daughter.

Authentic performances from everybody involved. The direction, pace of the story and soundtrack were perfect. Realism of the violence involved especially the car crash was just amazing. Screenplay was exceptional with lines: El Chivo - "It could be the last day of your life." "I wanted to set the world right, and then share it with you. I failed, as you can see." and from Octavio - "Being tough won't make you smart." All three acts were engaging with themes of forbidden love (Octavio and Susana), insensitivity (Ramiro), choices (Daniel), loss of career (Valeria), morally upright/forgiveness/regret (El Chivo) and symbolism of loyalty (the dogs in all three stories). Gritty, realistic, funny at certain situations and heart wrenching for dog lovers such as this critic. Amores Perros (Love's a Bitch) is an entertaining and creatively produced for those who enjoy watching life affirming changes from flawed characters.
