My Left Foot review

It is a true story of Christy Brown (Daniel Day-Lewis), an Irishman born with cerebral palsy who becomes a writer. First few scenes showed flashbacks of his youth. The actor playing the young Christy really looked liked Day-Lewis, and was fabulous as well in his portrayal. Paddy Brown (Ray McAnally) gets laid off while Christy admires a girl. Christy’s sister, who is pregnant, plans of getting married and leaves them. Bridget Brown (Brenda Fricker) searches for a doctor for Christy. Dr. Eileen Cole (Fiona Shaw) becomes patient with Christy. Daniel Day-Lewis, Brenda Fricker and Hugh O'Conor were spectacular in their performances. The pub scene was funny and the restaurant scene was just electric, you can really see the pain in Christy. One of the best lines: Bridget – “A broken body is nothing to a broken heart.” My Left Foot is an inspiring drama with powerful performances and topics of hope, family and love.
