Equilibrium review

After the third World War, Libria is governed by the Tetragrammaton Council that eradicates people with human emotion led by the Father" (Sean Pertwee). Grammaton Cleric John Preston (Christian Bale) is a high ranking officer who decides to take matters into his own hands. He eliminates his own partner for reading a book and is replaced by Brandt (Taye Diggs). Messages of importance of human emotions, change, being a robot like employee and justice were well portrayed in the action packed film. Only thing baffling that keeps this critic from giving a perfect score is the conclusion where Preston massacres and you see fear and Brandt laugh, which is ironic since they shouldn’t have any emotions. Lack of a better script, background artists and a more enticing soundtrack were noticeable. The settings, weapons and costumes were Matrix-like though “Gun Kata” was a visual treat. Bale gives a sincere portrayal of his character's transformation. Equilibrium may have been a flop and bashed by the critics, as a viewer pure entertainment is still essential with a delightful point.
